It is been a week Mississippi waters opened back up to commercial fisherman, but there are some fisherman who are not happy about it. Some commercial fishermen aren’t even leaving the harbor. They still think the water is unsafe, and they’re aiming to prove it. Ashley Dahl, a commercial fisherwoman, says if she caught something down there by the pier or whatever, she would probably eat that. She believes that the seafood is safe but there are few fishermen who are not sure that it is safe. Fisherman Chris Balius says, “in my heart I believe that there are things there that can hurt people.”
According to them the state has given assurance about the safety of seafood that there is no oil or dispersant in the water. Fisherman Danny Ross said that he do not pretend to know all these things. Only the good Lord knows probably, but where is the studies, where’s the biology in it. Where’s the paperwork? The head of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, who opened the waters, has seen the video and says there’s no evidence that it is oil. He believes it might be algae, and stresses tests on the seafood and the water show they are clean.
