Icelandic minister of fisheries Bjarkey Olsen Gunnarsdóttir will table proposals in Parliament for changes to legislation relating to fisheries.
According to a statement, these proposed changes will be in line with the recommendations of the Our Resources working group that were presented in November last year.
Details have not been made public, but will be presented later this year. Although it has been announced that the minister’s proposals relate to transparency in connection with linked parties, protected areas and changes to the resource levy legislation in relation to national 2025-29 financial strategies.
The infrastructure group appointed by the minister has been working on infrastructure concepts as a potential replacement for regional quotas, and this working group is expected to deliver its conclusions this month.
