The Luyt yard at Den Oever in Holland is building a 26.05 metre LOA, 6.75 metre breadth beam trawler for owners in Ireland, working on a hull constructed at Ibis which has already been delivered to the yard for fitting out.
Tilly WD-3 is the yard’s own design, developed in collaboration with Gaastmeer Design, and Luyt is also the main contractor, responsible for the entire construction, and is also supplying the Mitsubishi main engine and gensets, as well as the six-drum Luyt winch -the thousandth Luyt winch produced by the yard over its 60-year history. The yard is working with suppliers in the Wieringen region to fit out the new beamer, which is named after the mother of its owners, the O’Flaherty brothers of Kilmore Quay company OF Fishing.
OF Fishing and the Luyt yard have a long shared history, as the yard has been looking after their vessels for some years.
OF Fishing’s Lian Jan WD-63, Rony WD-18 and Hornsrif WD-43 have all called at Den Oever for maintenance and new winches, and Willy WD-14 was refitted with a new wheelhouse, engine and winch. Saltees Quest WD-38 and Emer Jane DA-37 are also scheduled to be fitted with new six-drum winches at the yard.
