Norwegian fishing company Finnøy Fiskeriselskap has taken the decision to re-equip longliner Vonar with all-new deck equipment from Mustad.
Vonar’s current hydraulic system is to be replaced with electrical equipment.
‘Daniel Finnøy and Geir Arve Sandøy are among the first to sign a contract for the new Mustad Autoline E-Line system,’ said Mustad’s Svein Erik Bakke, adding that the people behind Vonar have a track record of being early adopters, and were the second Norwegian operator to invest in a SuperBaiter when that was first launched.
‘We have been waiting for this,’ said Geir Arve Sandøy. ‘We have seen what we need to see. This is the right moment, and the equipment will be installed in August.’
The 49.50 metre LOA, 11 metre beam Vonar was the largest longliner in the Norwegian fleet when it was launched in 2003. It operates on cod, haddock and saithe, as well as Greenland halibut, tusk and ling, fishing with both gill net and longline gear
