Now in its delivery trip to home to Fosnavåg in western Norway, the new Leinebris offers opportunities to switch between longline, gillnet and seine net gear – the first of its kind with this combination.
At 67.30 metres and with a 15-metre beam, the new Leinebris is larger than its 58-metre predecessor, which was designed to work with longline and static net gears.
The moonpool is designed for handling gill nets and for hauling the longline. Leinebris has a 78,000-hook longline system on board, with both the net hauler and the E-line longline hauler with dynamic tension control supplied by Mustad. Evotec supplied the winch package for handling seine nets and seine rope.
Designed by Skipsteknisk and built at Tersan, Leinebris has diesel-electric propulsion, with PU115 azimuth and AR63 retractable azimuth combi thrusters. The steering system includes BrunCon PTC and BrunCon JS with Position Hold and Brunvoll Fishpilot system. It is equipped with a large battery pack and three diesel-electric gensets for optimal energy efficiency.
The catch handling stystem on board Leinebris has been delivered by Carsoe, with an automated palletising and handling section, while the bank of six V16 freezers are at the heart of the factory deck, as these allow for optimised use of space and downward unloading. Once out of the freezers, frozen blocks are routed to an automated section with a palletising system and cargo elevators to transfer production to the refrigerated fishroom. With Leinebris alongside, frozen catches are offloaded via integrated elevators direct to the quayside, dispensing with the need for landing cranes and speeding up the whole discharging process.
The factory is outfitted with silage production and for handling by-products, ensuring maximum utilisation of everything that comes on board.
In addition to the refrigerated hold, Leinebris has RSW capacity, offering the option of landing live catches.
‘We are really looking forward to bringing our fantastic newbuild home to Norway and start fishing for the future,’ said Leinebris AS managing director Paul Harald Leinebø.
