The Russian Fishing Company (RRPK) has struck a cooperation agreement with the Admiral GI Nevelskov Maritime State University (MSU) to support training in the skills the fishing industry expects to need in future.
At a meeting held in Agadir this week, Russia and Morocco have agreed terms for fisheries and co-operation for 2019, with an increase in the Russian fleet’s quotas for horse mackerel, anchovy, sardine and sardinella in Moroccan waters up by 10,500 tonnes to 140,000 tonnes.
Construction of a second in a series of longliners is in progress at the Northern Shipyard (Severnaya Verf) in St Petersburg, with the keel-laying ceremony held yesterday for an MT1112XL processor-longliner to be delivered at the end of 2020.

The keel of the first of a series of new trawlers for the Russian Fishery Company has been laid at the Admiralty Shipyard, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, in St Petersburg. The yard has also begun cutting steel for a second vessel, and the first pair of trawlers are expected to be delivered in the first half of 2020.
An order placed by fishing group Norebo with the Severnaya Verf (Northern Shipyard) in St Petersburg for six trawlers has been boosted with an additional four of these 81 metre factory vessels. The additional four 170710 project trawlers are to be delivered 2020-2023.

The Federal Fisheries Agency has approved agreements under the investment quotas initiative for three new processing plants in the Russian Far East, with a fourth due to be signed early in 2019.
The first new crabber for a Russian operator has been launched at the Pella Shipyard in Leningrad, and is being built for fishing company Antey, with completion of the 50 metre vessel scheduled for the third quarter of 2019.
