The 10th anniversary Skipper Expo Int. Galway fisheries show, which will be held on 7 and 8 March 2014, has received a major boost following confirmation that Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) will once again sponsor this milestone event.

Visitor numbers in 2011 reached in excess of 5,000 visitors from Ireland, Scotland, The Shetlands, Orkney, Chanel Islands, Isle of Man, Sweden, France, Australia.
The authority is still undecided whether Castlemaine Harbour will be reopened to licensed commercial wild salmon fishing.
Irish Sea Conservation Zones has presented a progress report suggesting two marine protection zones.
