HB Grandi’s pelagic vessels Faxi RE and Ingunn AK docked last week at Akranes with 1200 tonnes of pearlside between them. Faxi began landing around 700 tonnes on Friday morning and Ingunn arrived a day later with a further 500 tonnes.
Faxi RE is due to Akranes tonight after three days fishing on pearlside. Early this morning they had 500 tonnes on board, so there are hopes that this will be increased once Faxi has taken its last haul before setting course for the 70 nautical mile trip to Akranes.

Two of HB Grandi’s pelagic vessels, Faxi RE and Ingunn AK, are now fishing pearlside at the western end of the Grindavík Deeps. Faxi made its appearance on fishing grounds on Sunday and Ingunn arrived on Tuesday morning.
Herring are right off the shore due to difficult conditions and that hit the fishers mostly in Iceland.

HB Grandi’s pelagic vessel Faxi RE is now fishing for herring in Breidafjördur and the herring are not easy to handle.
Following the Ministry of Fisheries’ decision to allocate a 40,000 tonne initial quota for the upcoming season on Icelandic summer-spawning herring, HB Grandi’s vessels have a 4500 tonne share of the quota. Each of the three pelagic vessels operated by the company is scheduled to spend one trip on herring on Breidafjördur fishing grounds and Faxi RE is due to sail tonight.
Good progress as been noticed at HB Grandi’s new fishmeal plant, currently under construction in Vopnafjördur.
