Nergård, which recently opened a new fishmeal and fish oil factory in Måløy, has indicated that it has plans to follow this up with another factory in Karmøy.
The Karmøy plant would be established in co-operation with local interests, including a group of the region’s pelagic operators who would be partners in the venture if it goes ahead, reports Sildelaget.
Plans have been prepared, but so far nothing has been signed and nothing is expected to be confirmed until the end of this month. The indications are that if the plan is given the go-ahead, construction would begin soon, with the new factory ready for production in the spring of next year and possibly also including whitefish processing.
