Next year’s Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia will take place in St Petersburg 21st-23rd September at the city’s Expoforum EC, with the Federal Agency for Fisheries acting as the event’s organiser.
This year’s event was held in July in St Petersburg and attracted around 10,000 visitors from 42 countries, as well as from 35 regions of Russia. This year there were 335 participating companies from 25 countries and 35 regions, with Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Turkey and Morocco hosting their own national stands and Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Rostov, Leningrad, Ulyanovsk, Murmansk and Magadan Regions, Republic of Karelia, Tatarstan, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and Primorsk Territory all had their own regional stands at the exhibition.
The event brought together representatives of every fishing industry sector, ranging from fishing, aquaculture, processing, shipbuilding and repair, and numerous manufacturers of processing, fishing and ship equipment and gear, to companies involved in aquaculture and packaging operations to and related sectors such as logistic, trade, finance and insurance.
Alongside this year’s exhibition the Global Fishery Forum was dedicated to a plenary session and a number of thematic conferences and round tables, during which delegates addressed key issues associated with the fishing industry’s condition and development.
The forum and exhibition were attended by Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev and Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries and deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilya Shestakov. Also taking part were Sergey Mitin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council’s Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management, and foreign guests such as heads of dedicated agencies from Turkey, the Republic of Guinea, Kingdom of Cambodia, Republic of Bangladesh, Korea, Abkhazia and Bulgaria.
‘The Global Fishery Forum is an important event on the calendar of the Russian and global industry community,’ said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.
‘I am sure that the high-powered delegates of the forum representing government agencies, businesses, industry, public and scientific organizations have discussed current development trends of the fishing industry, including the present and future of the global and local markets, economic, environmental and social issues, all of which will result in vital decisions.’
