On Thursday morning 5th March Jean-Francois Mittaine gave a speech entitled “Outlook for the fishmeal and fish oil sector”. He highlighted the continuing firm demand for fishmeal and other proteins worldwide, especially from China, coupled with relatively low fishmeal stocks in Peru and Chile. He concluded by saying there was a rising perception on the part of fishmeal and fish oil producers as to their role in the value chain where quality and reliability are the key words and drew attention to the two critical areas of responsible sourcing and feed safety/purity which lie at the heart of IFFO’s new Responsible Supply Code.
