A lifeboat from Wicklow in Southern Ireland was launched to go the aid of a Irish beam fishing trawler The Bridget Carmel WD39 that was involved in a collision with a large tanker some 29 miles East of Wicklow Harbours.
The alarm was raised after the collision tool place about 20 miles off the Welsh coast in the early hours of the morning of Monday September 19th.
A Volunteer crew from the Holyhead Lifeboat in Wales put to sea along with the Wicklow lifeboat.
The three crew of the Irish Beam trawler Bridget Carmel WD 39 were uninjured in the drama, but the trawler sustained some damage to fishing gear, but no damage below the waterline.
The trawler was able to resume her passage and no oil pollution was reported.
The trawler was able to motor back towards the Irish coast under escort from the Holyhead lifeboat.
At 07.33 hrs Wicklow lifeboat arrived on scene. The Holyhead lifeboat was stood down and returned to her home port.
Wicklow lifeboat escorted the Beam Trawler on the journey back to Wicklow harbour and was safely secured alongside the East Pier of Wicklow Harbour by 10-30am.
The Three fishermen on board the beam trawler Bridget Carmel WD 39 were said to shaken but uninjured after their long ordeal.
