54-year-old Niels de Coninck-Smith has a comprehensive business career, including a long employment at the consultancy company McKinsey & Co. In addition to being a member for the Board of Directors in several companies, he has been the CEO at Ferroson from 2001-2008 where he is still a member of the Board of Directors. Throughout his career he has been work-ing with strategic challenges, including restoration of companies.
Shareholder expresses trust
At the seafood enterprises general meeting the Government of Greenland underlines their con-tinued trust in Royal Greenland’s management.
Following, the Premier of the Government of Greenland Kuupik Kleist underlined in his speech that a quick privatization of the company is not relevant presently and that management will now be given the needed peace to work on getting the company back on an even keel. He also thanked the employees for the effort they put in during the past difficult year.
With a deficit of 196 million Danish Kroner on last years annual accounts, Royal Greenland un-derlines that the company is already working on turning things around and CEO Flemming Knudsen welcomes the Premiers position on the company’s future.
“A strategic plan for the future of the company has been compiled, in which an increased focus on trends and demands in the market is a pivotal point. With support from the sole share-holder, the necessary peace has been created for strengthening of the business Royal Greenland and thereby also Greenlandic society as such – which is so dependent on a healthy and efficient fishing industry.”
