Statistics Iceland has released a new issue of Statistical Series in the topical category of fisheries. This issue presents imported raw material for fish processing.
The total amount of imported raw material for fish processing in the year 2008 was 130,649 tonnes, an increase of 25,447 tonnes or 24.2% from the year 2007. The value of this import was ISK 8.1 billion which is ISK 2.4 billion higher than former year. Import of saithe, herring and capelin decreased but import of cod, Norwegian spring-spawning herring, capelin roe, blue whiting and shrimp increased between 2007 and 2008.
