N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer Co. Ltd. (NEO) will introduce ‘ILDEX Vietnam Aquaculture Conference’ for the first time at ILDEX Vietnam 2010, which will take place March 25-27, 2010 at the New Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The conference will focus on sustainable aquaculture, which is in line with the Vietnamese government’s plan to steer the aquaculture industry towards sustainability.
Aquaculture is one of Vietnam’s fastest growth industries. (Today, Vietnam currently ranks sixth among the ten major exporters of aquaculture products.) The nation has set a goal of 6.5 million tons for aquaculture production by 2020, which could be worth around $7 billion (U.S.). — a $3.2 billion increase from 2008.
Because Vietnam’s aquaculture industry is still in a phase of rapid expansion, considerable interest has arisen concerning its sustainability. Recently, Vietnam’s government has announced plans for the sustainable development of aquaculture. These plans will comply with traceability and HACCP standards. Other measures to help the country’s aquaculture industry include improving quality of input materials, building modern fish farms, and diversifying markets.
“The launch of ILDEX Vietnam Aquaculture Conference 2010 is timely and in line with the government’s plan to promote a sustainable aquaculture concept. In addition to sustainability, the conference will also look into aquaculture production, aquatic animal health, and nutrition, plus a new marketing strategy for the aquaculture industry,” said Ms. Ladda Mongkolchaivivat, General Manager, N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd.
“The conference will also be a meeting place for industry professionals to learn and exchange ideas and solutions on sustainable aquaculture. Because sustainable aquaculture is a universal trend, we believe that the conference will attract attendees from other ASEAN countries who can also benefit from sustainable concepts,” she said, adding that, “at the same time we expect that the aquaculture section in ILDEX Vietnam 2010 will continue to grow alongside the industry. At present, some leading companies in aquaculture technology have already confirmed their participation to capitalize on the rapid growth environment of Vietnam’s aquaculture industry.”
