We’ve had a very busy 2016, ever since we launched our English-language news pages almost exactly a year ago. Since then we’ve seen a fishing industry that has gone through a few crises (not least with the ongoing discard ban controversy), a few triumphs, good times and some not-so-good times.
We’ve covered breaking news, some oddball stories, new fishing gear and equipment, plenty of fish politics, a couple of tragedies and a good few new boats coming into the industry. Whatever you feel the future of the industry is – regardless of the bleak picture from the mainstream media and the NGOs – fishing as an industry is in good health. It may be changing, but fishing isn’t going away.
We’ll be back with the usual coverage of the fishing industry once the effects of celebrating the New Year have worn off… And we’ll be aiming to bring you more and better news and information through 2017.
