A joint venture has been announced to incorporate green solutions to the F/V Tim Bandit, a crab fishing boat, says the Florida-based company SeaLand Environmental Inc. It is told that SeaLand Environmental has the most comprehensive portfolio of environmentally friendly products and technologies available today from a single company. SeaLand CEO Jeff Steele informed that such solutions can help clean the water ways. The boat Time Bandit was built in 1991, stretches 113 feet long and 28 feet wide. It weighs 298 tons and is capable of carrying 175,000 pounds of crab. It will be refitted with new products making it a “green vessel.”
Steele told that the process of greening the Time Bandit will help reduce emission, save fuel and lower the footprint on the water. Captain Jonathon Hillstrand said that going green is the way of the future. He further said that such change is very exciting and we look forward to setting the standard on the Bering Sea for crabbing vessels.
The new Time Bandit line of boat and yacht products are now available for retail purchase. In addition, eco-friendly lubricants such as hydraulic oil, gear oil, greases, aerosols and a growing offering of specialty and custom formula solutions will be added under the label this spring.
