According to the media report the federal authority has opened new areas to shrimping and fishing. It says the exceptions include part of the state’s territorial sea west of the Mississippi River to Point au Fer and the beaches bordering closed areas. The report revealed the details such as State inside waters north of the inside-outside shrimp line from the eastern shore of the Empire Canal, east to the Mississippi River.
The areas inside waters south of latitude 29 degrees 13 minutes 12 seconds from the western shore of Bayou Lafourche westward to the western shore of Oyster Bayou. All state outside waters beyond the inside-outside shrimp line from the Mississippi River west to the eastern part of Atchafalaya Bay at Pointe au Fer Island.
The authority has issued notice that all fishing remains closed in state waters east of the Mississippi River, except for coastal boundaries of lakes Borgne, Pontchartrain and Maurepas and the Chef and Rigoletes Passes.
