The Selstad and Badinotti groups are establishing a joint venture behind a shared production facility for aquaculture and fishing gear in Morocco. The co-operation provides the two companies with an opportunity to establish a high-capacity facility for equipment and services to their customers in aquaculture and fisheries around the world.
This follows the Badinotti Group’s recently announced acquisition of Maisma Morocco SARL, located in Larache. This is where the Badinotti Group’s and Selstad Group’s joint venture and will have a production facility for trawls and aquaculture cages.
It’s a strong alliance of two family companies that are leaders in their fields and Selstad CEO Hans Petter Selstad sees great potential in the venture:
‘As two family-owned companies sharing the same values, we have found a natural synergy in our global production and service sites, complementing each other’s expertise. The location in Morocco, close to Europe, will allow us to reduce delivery times and ensure high standards of quality control,’ he said.
‘We are very pleased with our partnership with Selstad,’ commented Giancarlo Badinotti, President of the Badinotti Group.
‘We believe our markets, products, and capabilities complement each other. Additionally, we share values as family-owned businesses, which allows us to have a long-term vision for our operations. We feel that sharing common values and visions is the key requirement for this type of agreement, and with the Selstad team, it has been a perfect match.’
The Selstad Group and the Badinotti Group were both established as family businesses: Badinotti by the Badinotti family in Italy in 1910 and Selstad by the Selstad family in Norway in 1953.
‘At Selstad, we have established a solid understanding of aquaculture and fisheries through generations of design and production of various equipment for these industries. Thereby, we can offer the expertise and quality that our customers expect,’ Hans Petter Selstad said.
‘Both our companies have been in the industry for a long time, and we always strive to be top innovators. In working together, we get to combine generations of experience and a strong understanding of our products.’
The venture marks a significant milestone for both Selstad and Badinotti, according to Badinotti Group CEO Christian Torres.
‘We’re combining Selstad’s expertise in design solutions from the North Atlantic with Badinotti’s extensive experience in net production and fish containment across the southern oceans. Together, we are creating a powerful partnership that will provide innovation to meet the growing demands of the global aquaculture and fisheries industries.’
