Brim’s fresher trawler Helga María is on its way back to fishing grounds after landing a capacity trip in Reykjavík on Monday this week.
According to skipper Friðleifur Einarsson, the trip returned a green weight of 200 tonnes of fish.
‘We did well in the last trip, and it looks to me like we’re starting to get a taste of the winter season here off the South-West,’ he said, adding that for this trip they are heading first to their home fishing grounds on the Mountains.
‘The focus is on saithe, and we’ll have to see how it works out. We have often done well on saithe on the Mountains and in other areas at this time of year, and hopefully we’ll do as well this time.’
The key subject these days is the Covid-19 virus and its effect on business. Friðleifur Einarsson said that he and his crew have been fortunate enough to avoid any infection, but all precautions are being taken.
‘Everyone understands how serious this is and we’re following strict guidelines laid down by the company and specialists,’ he said.
