The call for help came at 3:50 pm in which it was reported that they were taking on water after cracking the hull of the vessel.
Soon after the communication with the vessel lost the Coast Guard launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Kodiak. After a bit of struggle, the chopper has located the My Oar vessel being grounded near the boat launch on Anton Larsen Bay. It was found that the vessel broke several hundred yards of ice entering the bay to reach boat launch area.
The Coast Guard team has lowered a pump and a rescue swimmer to a nearby road. The pump was used to clear the water from the vessel. However, no injuries have been reported and the grounded vessel was tied off to the sea-shore as the tide receded. The investigation of the incident is going on.
