A 37 year old Scottish fisherman has died after being overcome by fumes aboard a fishing trawler in the North sea.
The fisherman was one of two men flown to Aberdeen from the Peterhead-registered fishing trawler Startlight Rays PD 230.
A Third fisherman was flown to hospital in Lerwick after complaining of feeling unwell, in an operation co-cordinated by Aberdeen coastguard’s.
The trawler was performing standby duties for the oil industry in the Devenick field, 155 miles off Aberdeen..
It is understood all three fishermen were overcome by fumes in the engine room of the Starlight Rays on Thursday afternoon..
Grampain Police are investigating the incident.

The death comes in the same week as critical fatal accident inquiry findings into the deaths of three fishermen in a trawler fire at Fraserburgh Harbour were released.
Berties Armstrong, chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, denied the industry has a safety problem.
He said : Safety is the top of our agenda. This is not fire-related, and we are daily doing our best. We have here a tragic accident and we want to know what happened and how to prevent it in the future”.
