Kolbeinn Árnason, director of Icelandic vessel operators’ association Fisheries Iceland (Samtök Fyrirtækja í Sjávarútvegi – SFS), has stood down.
With a legal background behind him, he was instrumental in bringing together a group of associations that formed SFS in October 2014, bringing processors, vessel operators and others together under a single banner. Previously he had worked at the Ministry of Fisheries and had been based for a while in Brussels as part of that role, as well as having worked for Kaupthing.
SFS chairman Jens Garðar Helgason has taken over his role at SFS until a new director can be appointed.
