With the fragile prices of Cod highlighted at the start of last week when selling at a high of around £2 per kg large cod sold for less than haddock and whiting.
But increased supplies on the previous week continued at the main Scottish port of Peterhead, when 15,814 boxes of white fish were landed at the market.
Prices were slightly low, but demand for small fish which continued to be short in supply, was consistent .
On Monday lands at Peterhead Scotland main fish port landings from 10 trawlers and three consignments totalled 4457 boxes of white fish. Cod large sold at £1.60-£2- Medium Cod sold for £1.40.. Haddock large/medium/selected £1.50-£2.20, chipper £1.42, Whiting £1.30-£2 and Monkfish £3.80- £.30, coley £1.
Boats that landing at Peterhead were Aurelia, Harvester, Avocet, Ocean Harvest, Acorn, Ocean Dawn, Fear Not, Courageous, Sparkling Dawn. Consigned Kemarvin, Caledonia. All working the fishing grounds of the North Sea.
The 3866 boxes sold on Tuesday morning at Peterhead came from Seven boats and two consignments. Cod large £.40-£2-30 medium £1.30-£2.20 selected £1.80- £2.20 medium £1-£1.30. Haddock large £1.80-£2.20, medium £1.80-£2.20. Chippers £70p-£2.20, Whiting £1.50-£1.80 round whiting £1.40-£2. Monkfish ££3.50-£4.50, Coley 80p-£1.10, plaice50p-£150, hake 50p-£2 witches £1-£1.50 and ling £1.50-£2 (kg). Tuesday’s prices were similar to those 24 hours earlier.
Boats landed Ocean Triumph, Demares, Content,Zenith, Accord, Crystal River, and Faithful. Consigned Keila and Caspian
Following a 3,626 box landing on Wednesday coming from eight boats and three consignments prices were good. Cod Large £2-£2.50, medium £1.70-£2.30, Haddock Large £1.80-£2.20, Medium £ £1.80-£2.20, Whiting £ £1.50-£1.80, Monkfish £3.80-£4.50, Plaice 65p-£1.50 and hake 50p-£1.50.
Boats landed Constant friend, Our Lass, Ardent, Advance, Nordfjordr, Helenus, Sustain and Vela. Consigned Deeside, Viking Monarch, and Caladonia.
Lands of 3866 boxes on Thursday sold for similar prices to the previous 24 hours with Seven boats landing.
Friday prices were similar with Ten boats and 3,867 boxes landed. Cod Large sold at £1.90-£2.70 medium ££1.80-£2.20, Haddock Large/Small/ Selected £1.50-£1.80, Whiting £1.10-£1.70, Monkfish £4.50-£5, Plaice £70p-£1.50 and hake £50p-£1.50.
In the port of Fraserburgh the weeks prices were fair with a total of 3,225 boxes landed from 61 vessels.
In the port of Scrabster 22 boats landed 9,011 boxes of white fish over the week where prices were good with Cod large sold at £2.20, Haddock at £1-91-£2.19, Monkfish £3.19- £4.49 and plaice £67p-£1.35.
Most of the Scottish whitefish fleet are working the North sea fish fishing grounds with some further a field.
