There was firm demand for whitefish landings at Peterhead Fish Market Scotland’s premier fishing port for week beginning August 22.
With demand for the larger selections Haddock sold for £143-£148 per 57kg box, Whiting sold at £86-£125 per 57kg box and Coley made £63-£91 per 57kg box.
There were also landings of herring at Peterhead for the same week.
The first market day of the week Monday 22 August saw Nine trawlers land a total of 4802 boxes of whitefish which sold at the following prices Large Cod £2.70-£3.50, Medium £2.50-£3.00, Haddock Large £2.50-£2.80, medium, £2.50-£2.80, Metros 55p-£1.10, Whiting £1.40-£1.70, Round Whiting 80p-£1.20, Lemon Sole £1.00-£5.50, Monkfish £3.80-£4.60, Coley £1.00-£1.75, Megrims £2.80-£5.80, Plaice 65p-£2.15, Hake £1.20-£2.20, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £2.00-£3.00.
Trawlers landed were Sunrise, Helenus, Nordfjordr, Keila, Aalskere, Summer Dawn, Golden Gain, Faithful and Crystal River.
The next day’s market Tuesday saw Four trawlers land a total of 1298 boxes of whitefish which sold at market for the following prices. Haddock Large £2.50-£2.60, Medium £2.50-£2.60, Cod Large £2.70-£3.50, Medium £2.70-£3.00, Metros 90p-£1.40, Lemon Sole £1.30-£5.00, Whiting £1.50-£2.20, Round Whiting 80p-£1.40, Coley £1.10-£1.60, Monkfish £3.80-£4.30, Megrims £2.75-£5.00, Plaice 65p-£1.80, Hake £1.50-£2.00, Witches £1.50-£2.50 and Ling £2.40-£3.00.
Trawlers landed were Sagittarius, Ocean Venture, Pegasus and Our Lass.
On the following day’s market Wednesday saw Seven trawlers land a total of 3508 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following Cod Large £2.70-£3.40, Medium £2.60-£3.20, Haddock Large £2.50-£3.00, Medium £2.50-£3.00, Metros 80p-£1.50, Whiting £1.50-£2.20, Round Whiting 70p-£1.70, Monkfish £3.80-£4.30, Lemon Sole £1.00-£5.00, Coley 75p-£1.40, Megrims £2.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£1.70, Witches £1.00-£1.50, Long £2.00-£2.80 and Squid £2.00-£6.70.
Trawlers landed were Ocean Bounty, Constant Friend, Rosemount, Shalimar, Artemis, Alison Kay and Acorn.
On Thursday’s market day saw Seven trawlers land a total of 5307 boxes of whitefish which sold at market for the following prices, HALIBBUT £10-00-£12.00, Large Cod £2.40-£3.20, Medium £2.30-£2.80, Haddock Large £2.30-£2.40, Medium £2.30-£2.40, Metros 50p-£1.30, Whiting £1.50-£2.30, Round Whiting £1.00-£1.80, Lemon Sole £1.50-£5.00, Coley 50p-£1.40, Monkfish £3.70-£4.80, Megrims £4.80, Plaice 65p-£1.20, Hake 80p-£2.00, Witches £1.00, and Ling £2.00.
Trawlers landed Russa Teign, Viking Monarch, Tranquility, Attain, Rosebloom, Castlewood and Sustain.
The last market of the week at Peterhead saw Twelve trawlers land a total of 4495 boxes of whitefish which sold at market for the following prices Cod Large £2.40-£3.00, Medium £2.30-£2.80. Haddock Large £2.40-£2.80, Medium £2.40-£2.90, Metros 50p-£1.20, Whiting 80p-£2.20, Round Whiting 45p-£1.30, Lemon Sole £1.20-£5.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.20, Coley 70p-£1.30, Megrims £2.20-£5.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake 80p-£1.35, Witches £1.00-£1.50, Ling £1.50-£2.00 and Squid £2.50-£6.50.
Trawlers landed were Boy John, Surmount, Budding Rose, Lapwing, Norlantean, Crystal Tide, Acheive, Harvester, Endurance, Ocean Harvest, Heather Sprig and Moremma.
There were landings from 39 trawlers over the week at Peterhead Harbour fish market for a total of 19,410 boxes of whitefish. There were also eight pelagic landings of HERRING.
At Ullapool Harbour it was a very quite week with only one Scottish Crabber and One Spanish freezer vessel landing.
At Scrabster 13 vessel landed a total of 5063 boxes of whitefish over the week. No prices were available.
At Fraserburgh harbour there were landings from 57 trawlers over the week but only 1953 boxes of whitefish landed.
At Buckie Harbour Seven boats landed a total of 363 boxes of whitefish , Prawns and Squid.
At Pittenweem Harbour the local prawn fleet are landing good catches of prawns which are sill be sold to markets in Paris for good prices. The local prawn fleet are fishing the grounds of the Firth of Forth and beyond.
At the village harbours of St.Monans, Crail and Anstruther there are fair landings of local lobster and crabs.
