A number of trawlers sailed last weekend as the bad weather started to ease , to put in a few local trips before landing their catches alongside trawlers that had been away at sea all the previous week.
The first two days of the market Monday and Tuesday November 22 and 23 saw 6,293 boxes landed at Peterhead fish market Scotland’s premier fishing port.
And all fish on offer at the market attracted good prices. With large haddock selling at £137-£148 per 57kg box and small haddock selling at £102-£125 per 57 kg box.
At the first market of the week Ten trawlers landed a total of 3329 boxes of white of whitefish which sold at the following prices Large Cod £2.70-£3.20, Medium £2.70-£3.00, Haddock Large£2.40-£2.70, Medium £2.40-£2.70, Whiting £1.00-£1.30, Round Whiting £1.00-£1.30, Lemon Sole £2.00-£7.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.20, Coley £1.40-£4.20, Plaice £1.00-£1.50, Hake £1.50-£3.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £1.50.
Trawlers Landed Celestial Dawn, Harvest Hope, Ocean Dawn, Courageous, Fear Not (PD) Renown, Alison Kay, Opportunus and Maoremma.
The following day Tuesday saw Seven trawlers land a total of 2964 boxes of white fish which sold at market for the following Haddock large £2.40-£2.60, Medium £2.40-£2.60, Cod Large £2.70-£3.20, Medium £2.50-£2.80, Metros £1.20-£1.50, Lemon Sole £32.00-£7.00, Whiting £1.50-£1.70, Round Whiting £1.10-£1.30, Coley £1.40-£1.60, Monkfish £3.50-£4.00, Megrims £3.00-£6.00, Hake £2.00-£3.00, Plaice £1.00-£2.00, Witches £1.50-£3.00 and Ling £1.50-£1.60.
Trawlers landed were Starlight Rays, Starlight, Mai Mai, Attain, Castlewood, Adorne and Ryanwood.
On Wednesday Nine trawlers landed a total of 3284 boxes of white fish which sold at the following Cod Large £2.80-£3.40, Medium £2.80-£3.50, Haddock Large £2.20-£2.50, Whiting £1.10-£1.80, round whiting £1.00-£1.10, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Coley £1.20-£1.50, Megrims £2.00-£6.00, Monkfish £4.00-£4.50, Ling £1.50-£1.70, Plaice 70p-£1.50 and Witches £1.00-£2.00.
Boats landed Ocean Bounty, Opportunus, Resillent, Serene, Acorn, Avocet, Summer Dawn, Golden Gain, and Norlanteen.
The next market day Thursday saw six trawlers land a total of 2290 boxes of whitefish which sold for Cod Large £3.00-£3.60, Medium £2.50-£2.80, Haddock Large £2.20-£2.50, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Whiting £1.40-£1.50, Round Whiting £1.00-£1.10, No Lemon Sole, Monkfish £3.40-£4.80, Coley £1.35-£1.55, Megrims £3.00-£7.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Hake £3.00-£4.70, Witches £2.00-£2.30, Ling £1.30-£1.40.
Trawlers landed Courage, Zenith, Conquest, Fruitful Bough, Aalskere and Scorn.
The last market of the week Nineteen trawlers landed a total of 6570 boxes of white fish which sold at the following Cod Large £2.50-£3.20, Medium £2.20-£2.70, Haddock Large £2.00-£2.30, Medium £2.00-£2.30, Whiting £1.20-£1.50, Round Whiting £1.00-£1.20, Lemon Sole £2.00-£7.00, Monkfish £3.80-£4.50, Coley £1.20-£1.40, Megrims £2.90-£5.50, Hake £2.50-£4.00, Plaice£1.00-£1.70, Witches £1.50-£3.00 and Ling 1.70.
Trawlers landed Shalimar (PD) Content, Russa Teign, Celestial Dawn, Our Lass, Ardent, Advance, Acorn, Valhalla, Golden Sceptre, Tranquillity, Crystal River, Faithful, Atlantic Challenge, Renown, Maggie M, Gleaner, Castlewood and Attain.
There were a total of 51 trawlers landing a total of 18,437 boxes of white fish at Peterhead fishing market. There were also Four Pelagic vessel landings of Mackerel.
At Fraserburgh harbour 58 trawlers landed a total of 1,696 boxes of white fish for the week which sold at good prices.
At Scrabster Harbour 22 trawlers landed 7,100 boxes of mixed whitefish which sold at good prices.
At Buckie Harbour 12 boats landed 236 boxes of Whitefish Prawns and Squid which sold for fair prices.
At Pittenweem Harbour Fife the local prawns landed good catches of prawns dispite the bad weather conditions during part of the week. Prices were reported good.
At St Monans, Anstruther and Crail Harbour local lobster and crab fishermen were hauling in their creel pots for the winter.
