All selections of whitefish continued to meet good interest although the increase quantities of fish available resulted in prices easing a little. As a result the first three selections of gutted haddock sold at £97-£131 per 57kg box, medium £80-£103 per 57kg box, and small £57-£68 per 57kg box at Peterhead Fish Market Scotland’s premier fishing port.
The first market of the Week on Monday November 15 saw Twelve trawlers landed a total of 5522 boxes of white fish which sold at the following prices Large Cod £2.00-£3.00, Medium £1.80-£2.50, Small £1.40-£1.80, Large Haddock £2.00-£2.30, Medium £1.70-£2.20,Whiting£1.40-£1.80, Monkfish £2.50-£4.20, Coley £1.20-£1.55, Megrims £2.00-£6.00, Hake £1.00-£3.00, Witches £1.80-£2.00, and Ling £1.85-£2.00
Trawlers landed Opportunism, Ryanwood, Adrone, Avocet, Celestial Dawn, Fruitful Bough, Boy Andrew, Aalskere, Opportune, Arcturus, Rosemount and Valhalla.
The following day Tuesday saw Six trawlers land 1946 boxes of white fish which sold at the following prices Cod Large £2.50-£2.80, Medium £2.45, Small £1.60-£2.00, There Were no Haddock Sold, Whiting £1.50, Monkfish £3.50-£4.20, Megrims £2.00-£6.50, Coley £1.40, Hake £1.50-£3.00, Ling £2.00, Round Whiting £1.30-£1.40.
Boats landed Tranquillity, Gleaner, Helenus, Achieve, Nordfjordr, Daisy.
On the nest day Wednesday faired a little better with Fourteen trawlers landing 5683 boxes of whitefish which sold at the following Large Cod £2.50-£3.20, Medium £2.20-£2.60, Small £1.20-£2.00, Haddock large £2.00- £2.50, Medium £1.80-£2.30, Whiting £1.30-£1.60, Round Whiting £1.30-£1.40, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Coley £1.25-£1.40, Monkfish £2.80-£4.00, Megrims £3.00-£5.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Witches £1.00-£2.00, Hake £1.80-£3.00 and Ling £2.00-£2.50.
Trawlers landed Lapwing, Boy John, Budding Rose, Rosebloom, Our Lass, Tranqlity, Fairline, MaiMai, Glenugie, Serene, Norlanteen, Constant Friend, Golden Splendour and Karen Ann.
At the Thursday Market Thirteen trawlers landed a total of 4270 boxes of whitefish which sold at Haddock large £2.30-£2.50, Medium £2.30-£2.50 small £2.30-£2.50, Cod Large £2.40-£3.20, Medium £2.20-£2.70, small £1.20-£2.00, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Whiting £1.00-£1.80, Round Whiting £90p-£1.10, Monkfish £3.70-£4.30, Coley £1.10-£1.40, Megrims £3.70-£7.00, Plaice 60p-£1.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £2.00.
Trawlers landed Magi M, Karen Ann, Devotion, Golden Gain, Summer Dawn, Maracestinea, Phoenix, Falcon, Favonius, Fear Not (PD) Ocean Venture, Heather Sprig, and Fru Tomsen.
The last market of the week Friday saw Nine trawlers land a total of 2528 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following Cod Large £2.30-£3.30, Medium £2.00-£2.70, Small £1.50-£2.00, Haddock Large £2.50-£2.70, Medium £2.50-£2.70, small £2.00-£2.20, Whiting £1.10-£1.20, Round Whiting £1.10-£1.50, Lemon Sole £3.00-£7.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.20, Coley £1.20-£1.50, Plaice 60p-£1.50, Witches £1.00-£2.00 Hake £1.40-£3.00 and Ling £2.00
Trawlers landed Content, Shalimar (PD), Benarkle, Viking Monarch, Ocean Reward, Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Cystral River Faithful.
A total of 54 trawlers landed a total of 20,078 boxes of white fish at Peterhead Harbour over the week. There were also two Pelagic boats landing mackerel.
At Fraserburgh Harbour there were landings from 110 trawlers for a tally of 4101 boxes of whitefish which sold for fair prices.
At Buckie Harbour 13 trawlers landed a total of 662 boxes of whitefish, prawns and squid which all sold for reported good prices.
At Scrabster harbour there were landing from 33 vessels for a weekly total of 10,540 boxes of whitefish which sold for good prices.
At Pittenweem Harbour Fife there were good landings of prawns from the local prawn fleet despite bad weather conditions. The prawn catch sold for fair prices.
