The biggest fish market for a few moths was held at Peterhead Harbour, Scotland’s premier fishing port on Monday 28th March when over 5,000 boxes of white fish was landed from 14 trawlers.
But the following day Tuesday supplies dropped by over a half. With Haddock selling at £103-£137 per 57kg box and whiting selling at £91-£108 per 57 kg box.
The market of the week Monday saw Ten trawlers land a total of 5609 boxes of whitefish which sold at market for the following prices Cod Large £1.60-£2.50, Medium £1.50-£2.30, Large Haddock £1.60-£2.00, Medium £1.60-£2.00, Round Haddock £1.60-£2.00, Whiting £1.40-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.30-£1.50, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Coley £1.20-£1.60, Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.50-£2.00, Hake £1.00-£3.00 and Ling £1.10-£1.70.
Trawlers landed Ryanwood, Adrone, Beryl, Farenella, MaiMai, Harvest Hope, Shalmiar, Artenis, Phenix and Falcon.
The next day Tuesday saw Five trawlers land a total of 2290 boxes of white fish which sold at the following prices Haddock Large £1.90-£2.40, Medium £1.80-£2.40, Cod Large £1.80-£2.60, Medium £2.00-£2.40, Whiting £1.60-£1.90, Round Whiting £1.30-£1.40, Lemon Sole £2.00-£7.00, Coley £1.40-£1.60, Monkfish £3.70-£4.40, Megrims £2.50-£3.00 Plaice 60p-£1.50, Witches £1.30-£3.00 and Ling £1.60-£1.70.
Trawlers Landed Conquest, Ocean Venture Rosemount, Arcturus and Renown.
On the next day’s market Wednesday saw Five trawlers land a total of 2442 boxes of white fish which at the following prices Cod Large £.200-£2.80, Medium ££1.80-£2.20, Haddock Large £ £2.00-£2.20, Medium £2.00-£2.20, Whiting £1.20-£1.60, Round Whiting £1.20-£1.80, Lemon Sole £2.50-£6.00, Monkfish ££.50-£4.20, Coley £1.35-£1.60, Megrims £200£3.50, Plaice 60p-£1.50, Hake 80p-£2.50, Witches £1.00-£2.50, Ling £1.50-£1.75.
Trawlers landed Glenugie, Starlight Rays, Starlight, Opportunus, and Favonius.
On the following market day Thursday Nine trawlers landed a total of 5809 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following Cod Large £2.00-£2.60, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Haddock Large £1.70-£2.20, Medium £1.60-£2.20, Whiting £1.00-£1.70, Round Whiting 75p-£1.60, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Coley £1.10-£1.50, Megrims £1.00-£3.50, Monkfish £3.70-£4.50, Hake £1.00-£3.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £1.40-£2.00.
Trawlers landed Crystal River, Fairline,Faithful, Serenity, Helenus, Our Lass, Nordfjordr, Minerva and Accord.
The last market day of the week Friday saw Eleven trawlers land a total of 4896 boxes of white fish selling at the following prices Cod Large £2.20-£3.30, Medium £2.30-£2.80, Large Haddock £1.60-£2.00, Medium £1.60-£2.00, whiting £1.00-£1.40, Round Whiting 80p-1.30, No Lemon Sole, Monkfish £3.00-£4.25. Coley £1.10-£1.60, Megrims £1.60-£3.50, Plaice £1.00, Hake £1.75, Witches £1.00-2.50, and Ling £1.10-£1.80.
Trawlers landed Rosebloom, Boy John, Attain, Castlewood, Zenith, Crystal Tide, Moray Endeavour, Content, Lapwing, Budding Rose and Tranquility.
There were landings from 4o trawlers total ling 21,046 boxes of white fish at Peterhead over the week. There were no pelagic boat landings of Blue Whiting.
At Fraserburgh Harbour there were landings from 37 boats with a total of 2643 boxes of whitefish landed which sold for reported fair prices.
At Ullapool harbour it was a quite week with one Spanish liner/netter landing 19 tonnes of mixed white fish, a Scottish trawler landed 60 tonnes of mixed white fish and two Scottish crabbers landed 22 tonnes of brown crabs.
At Buckie only four boats landed 326 boxes of white fish, prawns and squid plus 151 bags of Clams which sold for good prices.
At Pittenweem Harbour the local prawn fleet were at the night fishing in the Forth of Forth grounds and had good landings which sold for good prices at the local fish market.
