Slow white fish markets at Scotland premier fishing port of Peterhead reflected the fact that a number of pair trawlers in the North-east of Scotland have yet to start fishing; A total of 6089 boxes were sold at Peterhead fish market on the first two days of last week Monday & Tuesday January 17-18, where the demand for most fish selections was slightly down than the previous week.
Large haddock made £125per kg box on the Tuesday morning with medium £114-£125 per kg box.
On the market of the week Monday Eleven trawlers landed a total of 4312 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following prices Large Cod £2.00-£2-70, Medium £2.00-£2.30, Small £1.70-£2.20, Haddock Large £2.50-£2.75, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Round Haddock £1.00-£1.30, Whiting £1.50, Round Whiting £1.00-£1.30, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Coley £1.20-£1.40, Monkfish £2.00-£3.80, Megrims £3.00-£6.30, Plaice 60p-£1.00, Hake £3.00, Witches £2.00-£3.00 and Ling £2.60-£2.90.
Trawlers landed Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Ocean Trust, Arkh Angell, Opprtunius, Quite Waters, MaiMai, Sunrise, Atlantic Challenge, CALEDONIA AND Russa Taign.
The following days market Tuesday saw Five trawlers land a total 1777 boxes of whitefish which sold at the following. Haddock Large £2.20. Medium £2.00-£2.20, Cod Large £2,20-£2.80, Medium £2.20-£2.60, Round Haddock £1.10-£1.40, Whiting £1.20-£1.70, Round Whiting £1.00-£120, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £2.50-£3.90, Coley £1.30-£1.50, Megrims £3.00-£5.00, Witches £2.00-£5.00, Plaice 60p-£1.00 and Ling £2.50-£2.70.
Trawlers landed Fruitful Bough, Norlantean,Ocean Venture, Strathelliot and MaiMai.
The next day market Wednesday saw Eight trawlers land a total of 3800 boxes of whitefish which sold at Large Cod £2.00-£2.40 Medium £2.00-£2.60, No Large Haddock sold, Medium Haddock ££1.50-£1.80, Whiting £1.15-£1.40, Round Whiting £1.00-1.10, Lemon Sole £3.00-£6.00, Monkfish £3.00-£6.00, Coley £1.40-£1.60, Plaice £1.00, Hake £3.00, Witches £2.00-£3.00 and Ling £2.50.
Boats landed Courageous, Ocean Dawn, Tranquillity, MaiMai, Crystal River, Faithful, Ryanwood and Adorne.
On the next day Thursday Seven boats landed a total of 3688 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following prices Cod Large £2.00-£2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Haddock Large £1.60-£2.00, Medium £1.50-£2.00, Round Haddock 90p-£1.00, Whiting £1.20-£1.50, Round Whiting £1.00-£1-30, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Monkfish £2.90-£3.90, Coley £1.20-£1.50, Megrims £4.00-£6.00, Plaice 60p-£1.50, Hake £2.00-£3.00 and Ling £2.00.
Trawlers Landed Ocean Bounty, Arturus, Rosemount, Maimai, Quite Waters, Crystal River and Faithful.
The last market of the week Friday saw Six trawlers land a total of 1049 boxes of white fish which sold at the following Large Cod £2.00-£2.75, Medium £2.00-£2.40, Haddock Large £1.9-, Medium £1,50-£1-60, Round Haddock 90p-£1.00, Whiting £1.00-£1.10, Lemon Sole £3.00, Monkfish £3.00-£3.60, Megrims £5.00-£7.00, Witches £2.00.There were no Plaice, Coley or Hake or Ling.
Boats landed Farnella, Maracestina, Constant Friend, Acorn, Opportune and Achieve.
At Peterhead harbour fish market last week 37 trawlers landed a total of 14,658 boxes of white fish. There were 11 pelagic landings of mackerel over the week.
At Fraserburgh Harbour fish market 59 trawlers landed a total 4,007 boxes of whitefish which sold for reported fair prices.
Ay Buckie three vessels landed 12 boxes of whitefish, prawns and squid plus 330 bags of clams.
At Ullapool there was a decent week with three Scottish whitefish trawlers landing 90 tonnes of mixed species, while two Scottish Crabbers landed 22 tonnes of brown crabs. The local fleet reported that it had fish well. With good prices at market.
At Scrabster Harbour 14 Vessels landed a total of 6.614 boxes of white fish to the market which sold for good prices.
At Pittenweem harbour Fife the local; prawn fleet reported good landings and selling for good prices.
