Good Supplies were landed for the first markets of the new year at Peterhead fish market, Scotland’s premier fishing port on Wednesday January 5 as a high numbers of trawlers sailed after the festive break.
On the first market of 2011 Wednesday January 5 eight trawlers landed a total of 5730 boxes of white fish which sold for the following prices. Large Cod £3.00-£3.90, Medium £2.00-£3.00, Haddock Large £3.00-£3.20, Medium £2.70, Round Haddock £1.00-£1.20. Whiting £1.50-£1.90, Lemon Sole £4.00-£6.00, Monkfish £3.30-£4.20, Coley £1.30-£1.60, Megrims £2.6-£8.60, Plaice 60p-£1.00, Hake £2.00-£5.00, Witches £2.00-£4-00 and Ling £1.00-£2.90.
Trawlers Landed Renown, Arkh Angell, Harvest Hope, Favonius, Falcon, Phoenix, Our Lass and Aquarius.
On the next market day Thursday eight trawlers landed a total of 4883boxes of white fish which at the following prices. Cod Large £2.50-£3.30, Medium £2.00-£2.30, Haddock Large £2.50-£2.80, Medium £2.50-2£2.80, Round Haddock 80p-£1.10, Whiting £1.2-£1.50, Round Whiting £1.10-£1.30, Monkfish £3.00-£4.50, Coley £1.40-£1.55, Megrim £2.00-£7.00, Hake £2.00-£3.00-Plaice 70p-£1.50 and Ling £2.00-£3.00.
Trawlers landed Rosebloom, Boy John, Russa Taign, Norlantean, Benarkle, Ocean Bounty, Arcane and Ocean Trust.
The last market of the week Friday saw Nine trawlers land a total of 3227 boxes of white fish which sold at the following prices, Cod Large £2.60-£3.70, Medium £1.90-£2.40, Large Haddock £2.30-£2.60, Medium £2.30-£2.60, Round Haddock 90p-£1.05, Whiting £1.40-£1.80, Round Whiting 95p-£1.10, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Monkfish £2.00-£4.00, Coley £1.20-£1.40, Megrims £2.50-£6.50, Plaice 60p-£1.5, Hake 80p-£2.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £2.00-£2.50.
Trawlers landed Opportunus, Shalimar (PD) Artemis, Viking Monarch, Constant Friend, Aurelia, Golden Sceptre, Strathelliot, and Atlantic Challenge.
There were a total of 14,371 boxes of white fish landed at Peterhead fish market from 26 trawlers this week . There were Four Pelagic landings of Mackerel.
At Fraserburgh Harbour fish market 160 boxes of white fish and 471 boxes of live prawns were landed from two trawlers. Sold for fair prices.
At Scrabster Harbour Ten boats landed a total of 2,898 boxes of white fish for the week which sold for good prices.
The New creel boat Fleur of Scotland UL25 the first new boat to join the Ullapool fishing fleet in 25 years has made a good start prawn fishing in Loch Broom and Annat Bay on the West Coast of Scotland.
The trawler is operated by Stephen Couper and his brother-in-law Stuart Elliott. The new boat is based on B21 GRP Hull moulded by Buccaneer Boats of Camborne Cornwall.
