Total catch of Icelandic vessels in March 2008 was 169,181 tonnes compared to 162,054 tonnes in March 2007. Demersal species accounted for 54 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 22 thousand tonnes, haddock 12 thousand tonnes and saithe 6 thousand tonnes. The capelin catch was 96 thousand tonnes.
