The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) new chair of the Conference of Ministers as Liberia National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority Director-General Emma Metieh Glassco took over the role at the end of last year.
She steps in to replace Hon. Min. Mavis Hawa Koomson, Ghana’s Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD) who occupied the post since the 14th Session of the Conference of Ministers 2023.
In her speech at this 15th Ministerial Session, Hon. Director-General Glassco assured the meeting that Liberia will double its efforts and improve on existing gains of the FCWC.
‘My greatest vision for this sub-regional body is to foster and facilitate inter-regional trade among ourselves, particularly Liberia, which has an emerging fisheries sector with untapped opportunities both in capture fisheries and aquaculture development,’ Emma Glassco said.
‘My aim is to strengthen our bilateral cooperation through shared technical experiences and harmonised policies on our licence regimes.’
