1200 tonnes of quota in the Russian zone of the Barents Sea was yesterday auctioned in the Faroe Islands.
The auction was carried out by fish market Fiskamarknaður Føroya with two registered bidders taking part. The 1200 tonne quota composed of 1050 tonnes of cod, 100 tonnes of haddock and 50 tonnes of plaice went to Klaksvík company JFK for its trawler Gadus KG-180 for a total price of DKK3,580,000.
According to Faroese state radio, the lots were offered in a total of twenty-four 25-100 tonne batches
A second auction on Thursday this week will have 3500 tonnes of mackerel, 2000 tonnes of Atlanto-Scandian herring and a 600 tonne cod quota in the Russian Barents Sea zone for sale.
