Norwegian company Evotec has won a contract to supply electric deck machinery for the new trawler to be built at Tersan for New Zealand operator Aurora Fisheries, replacing the company’s current vessel.
‘We are very excited to have selected Evotec whom will provide us with an efficient cost effective new generation winch system’ said Aurora’s managing director Paul Hufflett.
The 80-metre, 15.40-metre Skipsteknisk-designed factory trawler is the latest to be added to the Tersan orderbook and the delivery date is scheduled for late 2025. It is designed for maximum energy efficiency, with processing capability for a variety of species and 2135 cubic metres of palletised refrigerated fishroom capacity. Accommodation on board will be for a crew of 50.
‘Our solutions and local presence have been decisive in securing the contract. After a long and thorough process with tough international competition, we managed to meet the customer’s expectations. The fact that the vessels will operate on the other side of the globe is descriptive of how our solutions and expertise are assessed,’ said Evotec’s sales manager Håkon Woldsund.
For Evotec, Oceania is an interesting part of the world, and the company has already established a sales and service hub in port of Nelson to provide local support for the seafood industry, as well as positioning it for further growth.
‘Evotec’s investment in sustainable technology and efficient handling solutions for the fishing fleet, has produced good results. The company has established itself as a market leader in the global market in record time, and has great ambitions,’ commented CEO Jogeir Romestrand.
