Global certification body DNV took the opportunity presented by the Global Seafood Expo in Barcelona to award Tri Marine Group certification to the food safety standard BRCGS Agents and Brokers Certification.
The certification includes alignment with ISO 22005:2007 Supply Chain Traceability and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.
Stefano Crea, Market & Industries Director at DNV, presented the certificate to Luciano Pirovano, Chief Sustainability Officer for Bolton Food and Tri Marine at the Barcelona Seafood Expo at Fira Barcelona Gran Via.
Preceding the ceremony was a session with Luciano Pirovano and Alf-Gøran Knutsen, CEO at Kvarøy Arctic AS.
Together with Stefano Crea, they delved into their companies’ biggest risks and how they approach sustainability. Topics of discussion ranged from environmental aspects to people, the companies shared how and why this is at the forefront to meet customer, consumer, and societal demands for sustainable seafood.
“Tri Marine’s certification shows a strong commitment to food safety and sustainability throughout their supply chain including an area often less in focus, the logistics link,” Stefano Crea said.
“We were honored to have reached this certification, and we are truly committed to continuing to uphold the level of food safety it represented,” commented Luciano Pirovano.
“Tri Marine has proudly embodied sustainability throughout its supply chain for years and was very proud to accept this recognition. Our responsibility to our customers, partners, and the earth are at work in our 360-degree approach to sustainability; we have strived to create a supply chain that diligently adhered to ethical practices that provided high quality, safe products with minimal environmental and social impact.”
