This is the Danish government’s fourth and among the largest Brexit support scheme and this makes DKK840.80 million available for the fishing industry.
The scheme is open to active commercial fishermen who held on 31st December 2020 quotas for one or more species that were reduced as a result of Brexit. Support is calculated on the basis of the quotas held by applicants on the date in question, and not allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
The compensation for loss of quota is one of the largest Brexit support schemes implemented by the Danish authorities for the fishing industry, it is designed to support recipients in adapting to the new situation with reduced quotas, as a direct consequence of Brexit.
The scheme is financed by EU funds from the EU’s Brexit adjustment reserve, and is now open for applications, with payments expected to be made to beneficiaries during the second and third quarters of 2023.
