Copeinca finished second in the first fishing season of the year with a total own fleet catch of 350,000 MT, 11.13 % of total catch and 14.84 % of total fish processed in itsplants. It is also noteworthy that fish oil production had a 4.9% yield. Copeinca produced 103,000 MT of fishmeal and 22,650 MT of fish oil.
Even though Copeinca’s own fleet catch efficiency was the best within the top 5, the company’s total participation was a little lower than expected due to unusual higher catch in the center fishing area of Peru where Copeinca has limited plant capacity.
Given current prices of fish oil, however, the surplus in fish oil production compensates the deficit in fishmeal production.
With reference to the allowed quota by the Ministry of Production please note that during the first fishing season, 3,147,000 MT were caught in 33 days.
