On October 7, 2009, in provincial court at Grand Falls-Windsor, Evans Fisheries of English Harbour West, was fined $1000 for possession of V-notched lobster. On June 16, 2008, fishery officers detected the violation during a vessel patrol near English Harbour West.
On October 6, 2009, in provincial court at Grand Bank, Neil Farrell of Marystown was convicted of allowing a person not named in his licence to fish his vessel and was fined $500. On September 5, 2008, fishery officers conducted an inspection of the vessel Bay Rose in Burin and discovered the infraction.
On September 8, 2009, in provincial court at Harbour Grace, David Porter of Coley’s Point, Terrance Layman of Gull Island and Lorne Gifford of Port De Grave were each fined $500 for exceeding their daily quota of capelin during the 2008 fishing season. Each individual was also ordered to pay the value of the excess capelin taken: Mr. Porter $1435, Mr. Layman $1371 and Mr. Gifford $1120.
