This year fish harvest gain momentum due to high water flow in Illinois River, primarily Asian carp. The over harvest of this fish and restricted fishing rules in the area led to the death of thousand of fish. People of the are complaining about the stanch of these dead fish as a waste.
Now the problem has gone too far and people can’t live with the stench of the dead fish so the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service offered permits for commercial fishing this spring, and got 14 requests. Fishing is already underway. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service expressed that the fishermen will continue fishing right up to the point they no longer access the pool once the water becomes too shallow due to this year’s drawdown.
The press communiqué of the authority states that these conditions will occur in late May or early June.
