Earlier this month SFPO (Swedish Fishermen’s Producer Organisation) saw most of its board re-elected at its AGM, apart from two resignations and two new members elected in their place.
According to Njord, Mathias Ivarsson and Kjell Sörensson stepped down from SFPO, Sweden’s largest association of professional fishermen.
The SFPO board now consists of chairman Peter Olsson, vice-chairman Tore Johnsson, Lars-Johan Olsson, Stefan Westerberg, Sterner Lundgren, Martin Axelsson, Peter Hagberg, Andreas Ganefjord, Kristian Nilsson and Benny Karlsson.
The board is dominated by figures from the Gothenburg area. Chairman Peter Olsson runs fishing company Zelandi in Smögen together with his son, fishing for a variety of species from lobsters to sprats and with several fishing vessels, with one from the east coast of Sweden and one from Halland. Tore Johnsson is a net fisherman from the island of Öland. Stefan Westerberg is a partner in the company operating shrimper Valöskär from Vrångö and Sterner Lundgren is one of the owners of pelagic/demersal trawler Rossö.
Four of the board are engaged in small-scale fisheries, using either passive gear or small-scale trawl gear.
