It’s a big step forward for the company, according to ship service division manager Bjarni Pétursson at Slippurinn DNG, as an agency agreement was signed with Brunvoll, one of the world’s leading suppliers of high-tech propulsion systems.
Brunvoll is already a well-known name in the Icelandic marine sector, and this is a brand that has been prominent with the country’s commercial fleet for practically as long as Brunvoll has been in existence – established in 1912.
‘Our production extends to every sector and we have had excellent co-operation with customers in Iceland. So the market in Iceland is an important one for us,’ said Brunvoll’s sales director Stig Helland, commenting on the decision to partner with the Akureyri-based shipyard.
‘We’re looking at both sales of equipment and the supply of spare parts, and Slippurinn DNG’s capacity in serving our customers is a key factor. Slippurinn DNG has a reputation for its ship services and has expertise in every areas of this. For us at Brunvoll this is a co-operation that is ideal for users of out equipment in Iceland, and the location in Akureyri is well-placed for operators in the Nordic region, which includes Norwegian operators who use our systems.’
Slippurinn DNG’s Bjarni Pétursson commented that Brunvoll is a name that’s known around the world.
‘This co-operation serves to expand the expertise of our staff in propulsion and control technology, and we have already had staff on training courses with Brunvoll in Norway, all of which boosts the services we can offer,’ he said.
‘Brunvoll is also a company with connections around the world, and that expands our own network. So this is a significant benefit for our customers both at home and in other countries, as well as a major step forward for Slippurinn DNG’s ship services,’ he said.
