Faroese pelagic vessels have been focusing on blue whiting in home waters, and making a series of big landings both at home and overseas in the recent weeks.
Last week Katrin Jóhanna landed 1750 tonnes of blue whiting to Havsbrún, before heading straight back to fishing grounds. The Havsbrún factory in Fuglafjørður has also taken delivery of 1900 tonnes from Birita and 2200 tonnes from Finnur Friði, followed by a 2500-tonne landing by Tróndur í Gøtu, all caught in Faroese waters.
Ango landed a further 1550 tonnes to Havsbrún, followed by a landing from Arctic Voyager, both of which returned to fishing grounds as soon as catches had been pumped ashore.
Christian í Grótinum landed 3300 tonnes of blue whiting in Karmsund, while Jupiter went to Karmøy to land its 2300-tonne payload.
Finnur Fríði made a 2300-tonne landing to Loðnuvinnslan in the Icelandic port of Fáskrúðsfjörður, before heading back to Faroese waters.
