Algerian’s Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing Sid Ahmed Ferroukhi has confirmed during a visit to Tipaza that the country’s Blue Ports campaign is focused on infrastructure development.
During a visit to Topaza with Public Works Minister Abdelkader Ouali, Transport Minister Boudjemaa Talai and the governor of Tipaza Abdelkader Kadi, Sid Ahmed Ferroukhi said that the port is expected to play an essential role in the diversification of the Algerian economy, reports the Algerian Press Service.
The plans are that by 2020, 47 fishing ports are due to be active, compared to 32 at present, and around 200 investment projects are due to be revived.
Sid Ahmed Ferroukhi said that the presence of the other two ministers at the meeting underscored the will for co-ordinated progress.
Public Works Minister Abdelkader Ouali made the comment that the strategy is in progress for the construction of port infrastructure along with motorway and rail transport links, taking into account the need to meet international standards and respect environmental considerations.
