The Whole Truth Campaign has organized a press conference on February 26 for the victims of the Exxon Valdex oil spill which involved commercial fishermen. The governor of Alaska and the Attorney General of Maryland has also consented to join the conference. The legal suit is already going on in Supreme Court which will decide what amounts to a near 20-year effort by Exxon to shirk financial responsibility for its actions related to the spill.
In this case nearly 32,667 commercial fishermen, related individuals and businesses, private landowners, Native Alaskans, municipalities, and other claimants from across the country are involved. The victims of the Exxon Valdez oil spill launched The Whole Truth Campaign this month to support the fishermen, women and Alaska Natives suing Exxon to recover damages for economic harm caused by the spill.
There is no denying fact that the Exxon Valdez oil spill is one of the nation’s worst environmental disasters. Exxon has waged a shameless fight to escape responsibility and so to bring justice the victims have started the campaign. The campaign and press conference is to make the authority and people realize the range of damage that caused by irresponsible corporate conduct and recklessness.
