Stadyard at Raudeberg in western Norway is to build a new 15 metre LOA, 8 metre beam fishing vessel for Akkarfjord fisherman Morten Ingebrigtsen, with delivery scheduled for December this year.

The newbuild will replace the existing TA Senior, built in 2001, and the Seacon design is to be completed at Stadyard on a hull constructed in Poland. Seacon has worked on the development of SC15 designed for several years and carried out model tests at the Stadt Tank to optimise fuel efficiency and speed within this length category. Emphasis is also placed on crew safety and comfort. Both Stadyard and Seacon emphasise the positive support they have received from Innovation Norway and the Research Council, which has contributed to making this newbuild possible.

‘This is the new building number 15 with a Seacon design delivered in Norway. Seacon has for several years been working on the development of this type of vessel, which has many similarities to the larger coastal vessels that Seacon previously designed,’ said Seacon managing director Rune Stian Disputas.

This contract ensures Stadyard and its team of local subcontractors will be busy throughout 2016.

‘Stadyard appreciates the confidence that Morten Ingebrigtsen has shown yard and look forward to building what we expect will be the ultimate fising vessel in its class,’ said general manager Agnar Lyng.

‘Earlier this year Stadyard delivered the 70 metre purse seiner/pelagic trawler Torbas and there has been excellent feedback from the crew and owners. At the end of the year we will be working on 28 metre netter Fanøyvåg, alongside the yard’s usual repair and maintenance work.’

The new TA Senior is designed to alternate purse seining and seine netting, with deck equipment and cranes from Lofoten Hydraulics AS. The main engine is a Yanmar 6AYM, driving a Finnøy reduction gear and propeller. The RSW system will be delivered by FrioNordica and the vacuum pump system by Stranda Prolog.

The boat will have three RSW tanks with a total 120 cubic metre capacity and options for carrying both chilled and live fish, and there is a gutting area under the shelterdeck.

Accommodation is for a crew of six in two single and two double cabins.
