With just a few days to go until the Scottish Skipper Expo opens at Aberdeen’s P&J Live Arena, the UK and Irish fishing industry is looking forward to gathering at one of the the event that has become a part of the industry calendar, now in its eleventh year.
A move a couple of years ago to the new P&J Live Arena provides more space, better facilities and an enhanced overall experience compared to the previous venue, with visitors benefiting from a strong exhibitor presence covering virtually every equipment and support service currently available to the fishing industry.
This year’s exhibition will see 30 new companies in attendance, reflecting the continued growth and optimism in the industry despite a challenging number of years.
Sponsored by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, the event will once again be officially opened by Mairi Gougeon, the Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs who last year took the opportunity to speak to industry leaders face to face and gain a personal understanding of the innovation taking place.
‘It’s wonderful to see such strong exhibitor interest in the expo, which will ensure that this will be a fabulous show for everyone. After a challenging couple of years, it is important that the UK and wider international industry has a meeting place where productive business can be achieved in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere,’ said exhibition organiser Sharon Boyle.
‘Having taken on board the feedback from last year’s exhibition, we are delighted to have a number of vessels on display this year, offering visitors the opportunity to check out the features, speak to the ship builders face to face and also meet with the companies who supplied all of the products – you really cannot beat that interaction and all under one roof.’
The Scottish Skipper Expo 2023 is held at the P & J Live arena on Friday 12th May from 1000-1700 and on Saturday 13th May from 1000- 1600.
