Held every second year in the port of Lorient in Brittany, ItechMer is the only dedicated fishing industry even held in France and with six months to go, this year’s event is looking healthy.
According to the organisers, virtually all of those who exhibited at the previous event have registered for this year’s exhibition and there is also a strong showing of companies taking part for the first time.
More than 7000 visitors attended the last event in 2017, along with more than 200 exhibitors and the organisers report a 100% satisfaction rate among exhibitors.
‘ItechMer attracts more than 9% international visitors, the majority from Europe, but also from Asia, the Indian Ocean region, Latin America and Africa. This year we expect a large industry delegation of industry figures and officials from Morocco. As Africa’s leading fish producer, Morocco is investing heavily in port infrastructure and fleet modernisation. It has just renewed its co-operation agreements with the French fishing industry and is coming to Itechmer to seek out the technologies, services and know-how that will accompany the development of fishing and its blue economy,’ an ItechMer spokesman said.
‘The exhibition itself is a platform for exchanges and decisions in an ever-changing economic environment. A conference programme involving a wide range of international specialists is also being organised. With six months before the event takes place, we are looking at an outstanding event this year.’
