Vyborg launches third Arkhangelsk trawler

The third of a series of four new trawlers for Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet JSC has been launched at the Vyborg Shipyard.

White Sea’s keel was laid in May 2018 and the Vyborg shipyard currently has three trawlers for Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet at varying stages of construction.

The first in the series, Barents Sea, was floated off at the end of 2018, followed by Norwegian Sea in May last year.

The construction of this series of trawlers is taking place under the Russian government’s investment quotas programme, and the Vyborg yard has a total of eight large fishing vessels under construction.

This series of 86 metre LOA by 17 metre beam factory vessels is designed to have a 100 tonne/day freezing capacity, including 40 tonnes of fillets, as well as a 60 tonne/day fishmeal and fish oil production capability and a plant capable of producing 5000 cans per day.

Fishroom capacity is 2500 cubic metres and each trawler will have a 350 cubic metre meal store.
Designed for single and twin-rig trawling the ATF trawlers have a 6000kW main engine, with 900kW and 500kW gensets and a 3200kW shaft generator.

Accommodation is for a crew of 49 in single and double cabins.

The lead vessel in the Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet series, Barents Sea, is scheduled to be completed this year.
