The Vard Aukra shipyard in western Norway has finalised an agreement to build a new fishing vessel for Fosnavåg company Remøybuen, with a delivery date in the second quarter of 2019.
The new 28 metre by 9.50 metre beam fishing vessel is designed by Remøybuen in co-operation with West Maritime, also in Fosnavåg, to alternate longlining with seine netting, and will feature an innovative set of electrically-powered seine winches developed by Seaonics, the first of their kind. The Seaonics package for the new vessel will consist of two seine rope drums, two net drums and a codend winch.
The new vessel will have accommodation for eleven persons.
‘It is impressive to see Vard Aukra’s contribution to the growing fisheries and aquaculture market,’ said Vard CEO Roy Reite.
‘We have a long and proud history with fisheries and other specialised vessels, and the Aukra yard has taken the lead in developing the group’s initiatives in this exciting market. We are honoured to have been chosen by Remøybuen, and it is a pleasure to welcome their owners and crew to Vard.’
The contract for the new Remøybuen vessel is worth NoK 60 million.
