A replacement for UK fisheries minister George Eustice, who resigned last week, has been found in Robert Goodwill, who takes over at DEFRA.
MP for Scarborough and Whitby since 2005, he had a brief ministerial career at the Department for Education from June 2017to January 2018 and before that at the Department for Transport from December 2015 to July 2016
Before being elected to Parliament he was previously an MEP from 1999 to 2004.
Outside Parliament he farms 250 acres and manages an environmentally friendly burials business in the North Yorkshire countryside.
He takes over his responsibilities at DEFRA following George Eustice’s return to the backbenches last week when he resigned in protest at the possibility of a delay to Brexit.
